My name is Marion, I'm 20 years old. 10 years ago, my father disappeared without a trace. He worked at the Anderghast mine, which according to some people, is one of the most haunted places in the world. Some days ago, I received a letter of someone who claims to know about my father's whereabouts. This person is waiting for me near the Anderghast mine. I know...it's too suspicious...but I couldn't ignore it. I have to know... I have to find out what really happened to my father, even if I have to go to that place... I have to be careful, though. Because there's definitely something there... There is something in the Anderghast mine...

"There is Something in the Anderghast mine" is an horror game created with the Rpg Maker MZ software for the 17th RPG Maker Horror Game Jam. It was made in about 19 days, so please keep in mind that there might be some bugs/typos/phasable tiles and I will (most likely) fix them (if any) after the jam ends.

Help Marion find out the truth about her father's disappearance...and the secret of the Anderghast mine...

Hello author, your game impressed me, but I encountered some difficulties while playing and couldn't find a breakthrough point. The first one is to determine which items can be used in the barrels control room and where to find it. The second one should be that floor0 has a water zone where the water is relatively deep and tools are needed to pass through, but where are the tools. The third one, where is the battery used? I have searched for many rooms but none of them are suitable. The fourth one is how to use the main elevator. Fifth, where is the generator room? I really haven't found it. There are relevant videos here, if you are interested, you can patiently watch them.

I dont' really remember much about this game, since I never went back to it after making it (except for using Marion and Helga in A House for Alesa 3), so this information might not be 100% accure and I'd recommend to watch a completed playthrough to see those specific puzzles. But if I recall correctly:

-Bar control room: you need to imput a number painted in blood in the dinning area
-Water zone: after you activiate a switch in the barrel control room, barrels will allow you to get to the generator room
-The battery is used in the generator room
-In order to use the main elevator, you must activate the generator in the generator room
-The generator room is just across the area with water in floor 0

Thank you very much(・ω< )★

Just got the game recorded  and will be uploading it on Tuesday. Gotta say Considering I started with the House for Alesa series this was a pretty long game. I didn't manage to get all the endings but it leaves the option for my viewers to play.

All that said Just a heads up on a few things I noticed (none of this is criticism more like beta tester style comments). the "caretakers" house lacks collision on the right side and when you go from one floor to another if you press any key in the opposite direction of the stairs you can go OoB.

Love your ability to come up with a good story and your monster design is on point for these games I loved it!

Thank you much!

This was one of my first attempts at making a longer and more epic RM Horror game. While I like the final result, I reckon the game has many flaws and instances of poor game design, such as: innecessarily long corridors; lack of maps; lack of indications; badly designed health and sanity systems; the tiles collision bugs such as the one you mentioned, etc. Still, I learned a lot from this game and I really like the monsters (I like Helga so much I put her in A House for Alesa 3, so she's probably my favorite among the monsters I've created)

Don't be Too hard on yourself with it being your first time. The maps were big which led to you having to do a lot more checking of every nook and cranny to make sure you got everything , the puzzles were a bit simple however your mechanics that you used were at the top of their prime  when RPG Maker horror games were really big. in my recording I mentioned it gave me Ao Oni and Desert nightmare vibes. the long hallways left me trying to guess if it was a puzzle i needed to solve or to speculate what would come next!  Though i have  only played the House for Alesa series other than this, I have seen a lot of your games played by Manly Badass Hero and i follow you on itch cause I enjoy your work.

Whenever I play your games if I find anything ill be sure to leave a comment because id love to see you grow, its been far too long since I've seen RPG horror games this good with so much potential. not since 2010

(+1)

Done! You can download the mac version as a zip now

(+2)

thank you ^v^

I like the idea, the art and plots are amazing. however, personally, it would be better if you could reduce the size of the map. it took quiet a lot of time just to walk around.

Yeah, the maps were awful

I downloaded it but it won't run on my macbook. Any fix for this? Meanwhile I'll play the browser version. Great game.

That's strange...

I'll export it to Mac again and upload a new Mac version during the day!

LOVE this game and honestly would love to see more of Scarlet and Helga. Maybe a prequel or a sequel explaining more of the lore and what actually went down in the mines

Actually just to add which ending is considered canon? Out of curiosity that's all!

That will depend on whether I decide to make a sequel or not. If I were to make a sequel, the canon ending would be the one where Marion escapes. But if I don't make a sequel, the canon one would be Marion becoming Scarlet and the loop repeating all over again forever. The ones where Marion dies in a car crash/gets her legs removed are definitely not canon

Ahh OK gotcha thanks for the answer! Man that game was so much fun, but I managed to beat it

That's awesome! A lot of people got frustrated with this game and I think most decided to stop playing after the encounter with the monster who teleports hahaha

Thank you so much! I might actually make a sequel some day, since Helga is still down there, and I really like her

awesome game

Thank you! : D

Welcome 🤗

This one may be my favorite so far (Excluding The grotesque and Pixelesque but I love horror anthologies! please make more) I decide to play in the hardest difficulty and it was so much fun, the lore in this game goes deep, there are at least 3 amazing plot twists on the story; The monster design as usual is amazing, especially they way you "fight" some of them, and the dead animations are really cool.

Sadly one ending eluded me because I miss timed my save on a certain event and did not  have enough time to replay it but the ones I got are really satisfying, as  usual I appreciate adding the "just go away" ending!

My only suggestion may be to add a certain way to map bigger lobby areas like the lab, be it static maps on the world (like those in malls IRL) or an item because it was a little too labyrinthine at times, specially while being chased, but it's just a suggestion!

Keep up the amazing work!

--------MAYBE SPOILERS-------------

PS: Does 000 and Helga survive when we break the loop?

(+3)

Thank you so much for playing and for your feedback! Great playthrough as always! I had no idea about that floor 0 glitch hahahahah.

In hindsight, the lab maps were unnecessarily too big and confusing, and I should have added a map (or made the maps smaller). That's something I will definitely implement in my future games (I  forgot to add a map in "A House for Alesa" though)

All the Subjects, as well as Scarlet, survive when you break the loop. I really like Helga so my priority was her survival and I might use her in a future game (she actually has a small cameo in "A House for Alesa": one  of the pictures in Greta's room)

I'm actually working on a sequel to "The Grotesque and Pixelesque", although it's not a priority (I also have to work on "Discarded Doll Stoy" and I have some other games planned). But I'll probably finish it by August or September!

I personally want to say that I'm glad that you've stopped using the old character model thing that you'd made. It looks a lot better now that the head isn't the size of the torso. Makes everyone look like an egg.

EDIT

if this is rude sry :(

The one I used for The Sakabashira Game? Hahaha, yeah, it certainly makes characters look like eggheads. I think I'm getting better at making models from scratch

Ei como fazer um jogo tão bom como esse, demora pra fazer

Hey how to make a game as good as this, it takes time to make

Levei cerca de 20 dias. Tudo depende de inspiração e motivação. Eu estava muito motivado e inspirado na criação deste jogo. Havia algumas coisas que eu gostaria de melhorar, mas no geral estou feliz com o resultado.

Thank you so much!

Things have been going well so far!

I got endings A & D!

Also,  you can complete Casual mode without using any First Aid Kits or Tranquilizers.

(+1)

Thanks for playing!
Yes, Casual mode can be completed without using items. Also, the enemies in casual mode are much easier (e. g., subject 013 is far slower and subject 025 doesn't jump)

You're right, this game is INCREDIBLE!!!
and in 19 days?!?!!?!

Thank you so much!

Yes, I tend to make games really quick haha. And I had a lot of fun making this one

new game already?:oooo

Yes, it's for an Rpg Maker Horror Jam, and this might be one of (if not the) best games I've ever made haha

I unlocked 2 images, but I can't see them in the gallery

Are you playing the browser version? It seems it has some trouble loading some images in the art gallery but it has to do with the internet connection and memory usage

no, I downloaded it...

It might still have to do with memory usage. Also, sometimes the images in the gallery change too fast and some might be skipped. But I recently tested a save file with all the images unlocked and all of them were shown with no problem
